The tailgate kept falling down so we stuck some velcro on each side of the gate and it works great. Also, the wheels had no traction and kept spinning on grass. My older son drives and little brother sits beside him. We have a backyard with lots of grass, weeds and mud and that was where we intended the boys to use it. It goes over dirt and short grass great (we have yet to take it in mud), however it doesn't drive very well over the weeds and gets stuck a lot. It leaves my little driver feeling very frustrated and getting out of his tractor to push it out of the bad spots a lot. We also let the boys drive it on the road in our culdesac often, which I've read is bad for the plastic tires. So far all is good, but I will update on that when I come back to update my review. The dumping mechanism (small red ring behind seats) is a little tough to pull, but I think you just have to get used to using it. Going in reverse is surprisingly easy for our oldest son - he got the hang of it pretty quick (you have to hold down on a lever under the seat while accelerating). The turning radius is pretty good - better than my last truck. We got a lot of use out of the first charge before having to recharge - about 3-4 hours I think (broken up over 10-15 different rides) before having to recharge. As of today, we're happy with it overall. It was an expensive gift (as these kids power vehicles all are) but so far I think it was worth the money.It also starts with a big jerk. So.I wouldn't buy it again and wish I hadn't bought it. I just feel bad. He hardly ever rides it because it jerks and then it sits there and spins its tires. Doggone it.:-(My 3 year old drives all over the neighborhood. Seems fairly sturdy and holds its charge for a pretty good amount of time. We've had to replace battery once, rear ties twice, and front tires once over the course of a year. That's the only negative.There is sufficient instructions but they are on different booklets and sheets. So look through everything before you start building. The biggest help was the sheet that explains the screw sizes to use for each step.

I called Peg Perego, a customer service representative walked me through and have me tested on several things, she informed that we have a defective motor. I received the new one in the mail a few days after and have changed out the old motor and it's working fine now. Overall, pricey toy but my kids love it.Hours and hours of fun. Peg-Perego has made charging the battery simple--the battery connects to a recharger cable that plugs into a standard electrical outlet. Turn off the Peg-Perego Gator. Unhook the side flaps and flip the door out and down. Grasp the metal retaining rod in front of the 12-volt battery and slide it out the right side of the vehicle to gain access to the battery. Pull the battery slowly halfway out of the battery compartment. Disconnect the plug that connects the battery to the vehicle. Pull the battery completely out of the vehicle.
Connect the plug on the battery to the 12-volt battery recharger cable. Plug the two-prong plug on the cable into an electrical socket. Keep the battery plugged in for 18 to 24 hours--checking it every four hours or so to make sure that it isn’t leaking or overheating. Disconnect the plug from the electrical socket. Disconnect the recharger cable from the battery. Insert the battery halfway into the Gator's battery compartment. Reconnect the battery to the vehicle and then slide it completely into the battery compartment. Slide the metal retaining bar into place to secure the battery in the compartment. Secure the door with the safety screw. Tips If the Gator is in storage for a month or more, charge the battery a full 24 hours at least once a month. If the battery won't take a charge, contact Peg-Perego for a replacement at 800-728-2108 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Eastern time.
